Arthur LaPorte collection, 1952-2000 (bulk 1998-2000)

Arthur P. Laporte's written work consists primarily of his recollections of events that took place while he served in the Korean War and during the attack on Iwo Jima. Also included are poems he wrote celebrating war heroes, such as fellow soldier James F. Butterfield. Most of Arthur LaPorte's video recordings are visual records of ceremonies honoring veterans in Glens Falls, Saratoga, and Corinth, N.Y., from 1998 to 2000. The photographs are color prints recording the installation in 1999 of memorial tablets replacing the original stone inscriptions on the Civil War Soldiers' Monument in downtown Glens Falls. Finally, LaPorte recorded an Elks Parade in 1988, a fireman's parade in Lake George in 1988, and an accident in Glens Falls, N.Y.
